Året er 1600. I en ølstue i landsbyen Årslev sidder fem mænd. Det rygtes, at de er forhekset af en troldkvinde ude på engene, og nu venter de kun på at blive henrettet - da døren brydes op. Ind træder lensherre Holger Rosenkrantz. Han vil redde deres liv. Men i de fem mænd gemmer sig både mørke og åbenbaring, og som aftenen falder på, nærmer Holger sig en voldsom sandhed om hændelsen nær Årslev Enge.
Klimakrisen raser i en nær fremtid. Forskeren Lilly lever ensomt og isoleret, mens hun forsøger at opretholde sine idealer i det kyniske firma, hun arbejder for. Malik feels like a stranger in Sweden after his family fled there from Iraq. In Sweden he is bullied and often gets into fights at school. When Saddam Hussein is hanged, the family decides to move back to Iraq, which excites Malik as he can now finally feel at home somewhere. Soon after arriving, however, Malik begins to feel the same strangeness that he did in Sweden. It begs the question: What is home and what does it really mean to belong somewhere?
